The new TRACE MODE® version integrates over 10-year experience of AdAstrA Research Group, Ltd in process control development tools programming. Hundreds of company’s engineers, programmers and testers worked hard to make the developer’s work easy and pleasant.
The TRACE MODE® 6 flexibly adjusts to the developer’s experience and professional skills. Whether you are creating the first control system in your life, or developing the most sophisticated corporate project for hundreds of thousands of variables, – working in the TRACE MODE 6 would be equally easy and efficient.
At startup, the system suggests you to select one of three methods of development: Easy – Standard – Advanced.
- Easy method – this is a graphics centered intuitive approach perfect for beginners. Development using this method is maximally simplified and automated. It is performed in the fastest and the most intuitive way. The TRACE MODE 6 Project Autobuilding® system would automatically create operator interface from ready library blocks, and connection to controllers will be performed through built-in driver – quickly and free of charge.
The Easy method implements a graphics centered project development technology. Select controller from the list in the "Sources/Receivers" section. Create a screen in the "System" section and locate any graphic objects in the same – bars, animation, trends, mimic diagrams so on.
Now, click with mouse – and in the properties box appeared, link the graphic objects with variable in controller. Save the project and press "Run". The HMI starts up, getting the real time data from the controller, and displaying them on the screen.
- Standard method allows to get the full use of object oriented project development, enhancing productivity and cutting the engineering time. In this method, the user makes individual project components – templates, which can then be replicated and used at any of the project nodes – at operator PC (HMI), in controllers (SOFTLOGIC), at the manager’s PC (EAM, MES, HRM).
The project components linking is done with drag-and-drop. The logic structure of TRACE MODE® 6 project is hardware independent. Therefore any project component can be called by any other component and used in any location.
The Standard method ensures flexible, perfectly scalable object structure of the project, in which any component e.g. variable, technological object, screen, algorithm, driver, document, SQL-query is many times reusable at any project node. A 100% object approach to project design allows making changes into a single location, to apply them instantly to the entire project, whatever large could it be, and wherever physically located.
Advanced method of development has all advantages of the object approach used in the standard one, but it enables more complex structuring of the project for use not only by engineers and programmers, but also by:
o technology engineers;
o control technicians;
The Advanced method perfectly suits the developers of large and extra-large scale control system and systems integrated in manufacturing automation. Maximum advantage can be obtained when using this method for group client-server development, while different specialists work on different parts of the project, using unified TRACE MODE project database.
Upon selection of this style of designing, additional layers: Technology, Topology, Instrumentation appear in the project tree.
In the Technology layer, the project can be represented as a totality of technological objects (equipment), and technological parameters (temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc.). In that layer the project can be developed by technology engineers. The popular technological encoding system KKS is supported. The technology layer is also used for EAM applications (equipment accounting, enterprise asset management, maintenance and repairs management) and MES – production execution monitoring, products prime costing and material accounting.
Upon completion of designing, it would be enough to drag and drop technological objects to icons of project nodes in the System layer – to the RTMs for creation of operator PCs, to Micro RTM for controllers programs and to the T-Factory nodes for the EAM and MES applications. Now, based on the information received from sensors, one can generate alarms and job tickets for maintenance, assign these to the personnel in charge, calculate the amount and the cost of production, to compile material balances, etc.
At the same time, the TRACE MODE project can be represented as a totality of control-and-measuring instruments in the layer of Instrumentation.
The layer Topology represents TRACE MODE® and T-Factory project as a geographical or administrative hierarchy. In that layer it is easy to design buildings automation systems, or create
T-Factory applications using administrative hierarchy – for example HRM (personnel management).
We shall emphasize once again that all types of project representation and development styles are equal and can be used simultaneously in a single project by specialists of different professional skills. Therefore, notwithstanding of whatever method of designing you select your working in the IDE would be equally efficient.
The innovative approach implemented in the TRACE MODE® 6 consists in integration of technological and economical information about the production process into one unified system and in offering the Integrated development tool suitable for control engineers, IT professionals, business consultants, instrumentation personnel, etc.
